Muscat. Al Madina Logistics Services Co. (AMLS) has signed a long-term contract
with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MOAF) to build,
operate and manage an Inspection Hub for all fisheries and agriculture imports
and exports in North Batinah and Al Buraimi Governorates. The Agreement was
signed by H.E. Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of MOAF, and Mr. Hassan
Ehsan Al Naseeb, Chairman of the Board at AMLS, in the presence of honorable officials
and delegates.
Mr. Hassan Ehsan Al Naseeb
expressed the importance of this Agreement as yet another step towards
achieving the Government’s Strategy for Public Private Partnership, by engaging
the Private Sector in such investment opportunities where they are able to add
value and enhance Oman’s logistics infrastructure. The project is expected to
benefit trade through growth of imports and exports with the implementation of world-class
cold chain logistics and facilitation of more efficient inspection processes.
Mr. Al Naseeb further thanked MOAF for the trust bestowed upon AMLS through the
award of this National project.
The 40,000 sqm logistics hub will
comprise of cold and dry inspection docks, cold and dry warehousing, greenhouses,
fumigation facilities, quarantine zones, offices for Government officials and
staff, central laboratory, commercial complex, truck parking and plugin,
washing and weighing facilities, commercial buildings, as well as prayer and
rest areas for customers and truck drivers.

which will strengthen Oman’s capacity to handle volumes of fisheries and agriculture
shipments, and enhance food and cold chain logistics capability in general. The
implementation of this project will facilitate MOAF’s quality & safety
inspection of shipments, while maintaining cold chain integrity throughout the
process. The ultimate aim is to benefit traders and consumers with faster turnaround
and higher standards, support growth in Oman’s trade volumes.”
